Digital Reporter
We have immediate openings for Digital Reporters who are passionate about Toronto and have the ability to write about a range of the subjects we cover such as local news, food, nightlife, culture (music, film, fashion, the arts etc.), local travel and more.
The ideal candidate is a news and social media obsessive who is as comfortable writing about a new nightlife destination as they are about a compelling human interest story or breaking local news. They should be a strong storyteller with a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
This is a full-time role. blogTO offers a competitive salary which is dependent on experience.
Responsibilities
- Pitch, research and write stories for the website and social media platforms.
- Take on field assignments throughout the week as applicable, creating original content for Instagram stories and other social media platforms to amplify and complement reporting for the website.
- Create and lead discussions in Clubhouse rooms and Twitter Spaces as applicable related to your original reporting work.
- Source and format photos to package posts according to the site’s style and formatting guidelines.
- Optimize stories for SEO and identify content ideas based on trends.
- Consistently hit challenging traffic and content targets.
Requirements
- A love of blogTO and what we do.
- At least 2 years of journalism experience working as a writer/reporter in a fast-paced news environment.
- Excellent time management, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate with others.
- A willingness to work unconventional hours, including evenings and weekends when applicable.
- Strong SEO skills.
- Familiarity and knowledge of Canadian Press style guidelines.
- Expert knowledge of one or more areas we cover such as breaking news, food and restaurants, culture, real estate or travel.
- Bachelor of Journalism degree preferred but not essential.
- Experience creating Instagram stories, TikToks and audio rooms on Twitter Spaces and Clubhouse an asset.
- Photography, video and social media skills and proficiency with Photoshop an asset.
Salary range
The salary for this position is between $45,000 and $85,000 per year depending on experience.

Social Video Live News Reporter
We have an immediate opening for a Video and Audio Reporter to create live news content for our growing TikTok and Instagram accounts as well as YouTube, Clubhouse, Twitter Spaces and other video, audio and social platforms.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable with reporting on live and breaking news but have the versatility to explore human-interest stories, conduct interviews and also cover culture and lifestyle topics.

Responsibilities
- Create original live breaking news and other video-based content for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and other social media channels as applicable.

This role is tactical and strategic, the HRBP will be responsible for the full life cycle of the employee including providing advice, guidance and interpretation of policies for managers and employees.
The ideal candidate has a keen eye for attention, customer service orientated and can quickly and efficiently work through ambiguous issues.
Responsibilities
- Be a trusted resource to management and employees by ensuring legal compliance of both federal and provincial legislation, implementing and updating required policies and procedures when appropriate
- Oversee Disability Management and leave of absence process, including required documentation and liaison with third parties
- Supports and advises on legal matters as it relates to compliance, provincial and federal regulation and how it may impact employees and/or the operation
- Support managers and employees in the interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements; be the main point of contact with the union representative
- Act as an advisor to all leaders by providing guidance, direction and advice on employment related issues, performance management, employee engagement, and compensation
- Manage full cycle recruitment, onboarding, off boarding of employee, contractor and independent consultants
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risk, and ensuring regulatory compliance

Requirements
- University degree or College diploma in Human Resources is required
- Human Resources designation (CHRP or CHRL) is preferred
- Minimum of 5 years’ of HR Experience, with at least 3 years as an HRBP ideally in standalone role in a mid-sized company (200-300 employees)
- Knowledge of Employment Standards Act, Canada Labour Code and labour relations experience
- Strong business acumen with the ability to understand business and financial conditions, link HR and business strategy, and identify ways to improve business performance
- Proven experience in diplomacy and discretion; providing a mature, thoughtful approach to business issues
- Demonstrated experience working in an entrepreneurial environment, rapidly changing organization
- Strong technical skills, including keen eye for attention to detail
